Oxford, England: Balliol College

What do Adam Smith, Boris Johnson, Aldous Huxley, Harold Macmillan and Edward Heath have in common?

This building, in a sense.

It's the home of Balliol College, part of the University of Oxford. All of them graduated from this particular branch of the school. Yes, plenty of famous people have graduated from this Oxford school, including four Prime Ministers and 13 Nobel Prize winners.

Balliol has a claim to being the oldest college at Oxford, although others dispute that. The college was created in 1263 via a grant by John I de Balliol. The wealthy landowner died in 1268, and his widow,Dervorguilla, continued the tradition of financial support for the school.

It has about 400 students and 80 fellows (professors). It created the so-called PPE degree that combines work in philosophy, politics and economics. This building is considered the gateway to the college.
