Oxford, England: Bridge of Sighs

Somehow, you just knew that there would be a place like this in Oxford.

This is the Hertford Bridge, also known as "The Bridge of Sighs." The first part of the name is easy. This connects two buildings and their courtyards with ties to Hertford College at Oxford. It was completed in 1914, although there was said to be some opposition to its construction at the time.

As for the second part, it seems that there is a "Bridge of Sighs" in Venice, Italy. Supposedly that one looks like this one. Indeed, the one in Venice has left quite a trail of bridges with that name in its wake, including ones in Chester and Cambridge, England.

No matter what you call it, it has become a landmark of the city. There are no videos available about what the view is like from the bridge, so you'll just have to settle for an outside-looking-in photo.
