Cabot Trail, Nova Scotia

The Cabot Trail is considered one of the most scenic drives in North America. While the Trail goes on a good chunk of Cape Breton, the best part is in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. It's an all-day adventure, going more than 180 miles in all (although only half of it could be considered the scenic part).

One travel tip -- the weather can be foggy, as we found out the hard way. If you are going to make the effort to go all the way to Nova Scotia, give yourself an extra day or two as a cushion in case of bad weather. We were glad we did.
