Baddeck, Nova Scotia: Bell National Historic Site

The Cabot Trail is a great place to drive, but you need to stretch your legs a few times on such a trip. The Bell National Historic Site is such a place.

Bell, of course, invented the telephone, thus making him rich for the rest of his days. Therefore, he had plenty of time to satisfy his curiosity about a great many other areas of interest. One of them was flying. Pictured above is his Silver Dart, which he hoped would be the world's first airplane. Sadly for him, it never quite worked and the Wright Brothers beat him to it.
