This scene would be a bit more scenic in the winter than the summer, even though the summer is pretty good. This is the Rideau Canal, which passes right through the middle of downtown Ottawa. There are all sorts of restaurants, parks and shops along the way.
In the winter, though, this turns into one of the great public ice skating facilities anywhere. You can skate for miles if you choose, or you can stay close to downtown. The population really turns out, particularly on weekends. They really know how to enjoy winters in Ottawa.
