Rothenburg, Germany: Town Walls

You enter the old part of Rothenburg by going through a very large gate. Once inside, you see that the city's walls encircle the area.

So of course, you have to check them out up close. And you can.

There are stairs up the upper level every so often along the wall. It's not that bad of a climb as these things go, although it's on the narrow side. You can look out and see the enemy coming. Or, you can walk around under cover in case of rain.

It takes more than an hour to take a lap, but you'll get the idea in 10 minutes if you so choose. Here's a look at a walk from above:
