Budapest, Hungary: Rumbach Street Synagogue

For those who like their synagogues old and well done, Budapest has a couple of candidates. The Rumbach Street Synagogue dates back to its opening in 1872. By chance, the membership of the group split into a couple of factions around that time, and this one ended up as the home for the so-called Status Quo group.

This has eight sides intentionally in order to remind people of the octogonal Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. The building received a facelift that ended in 2021. It's become a great place for cultural events in the community. Here's what the reopening looked like:
