Barcelona. Spain: Palau de la Música Catalana

Whenever you are in Europe and bump up against a musical hall, it's always a good idea to check it out. They know how to do things right.

In this case, we're talking about the Palau de la Música Catalana. This was designed in a modern style and finished in 1906 after three years of work. It has undergone some renovations over the years, including a big one in the late 1990s. The building has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

About half a million people turn up here each year for concerts. Classical, symphony, chamber and local music takes turns in attracting customers.
