Take a look at this painting, which is about the first thing shown in a tour of the Picasso Museum in Barcelona. It is called "Science and Charity," and it was done at the age of 15. The work displays a sense of social realism, as a doctor tended to a patient while a nun prayed for a good outcome.
That's a good start to a museum, and the version in Barcelona follows up nicely. It has a few thousand of his works available for display. It opened in 1963, before Picasso died. Since then the museum has received several other donations of Picasso's work.
The building has five separate portions that were combined to complete the museum. The permanent collection consists mostly of early works, but a variety of pieces from different eras are available.
