Girona, Spain: Cathedral

May I suggest that you don't forget something like a coat after the service, so that you don't have to re-climb the steps to the church?

This is a reasonably impressive church, particularly in a small town. Oddly, the building is best known for the fact that it had the widest center aisle - I guess it's called a nave - of any Gothic church in the world. It checks in at 23 meters, or around 75 feet. 

This land was the site of a Christian church until 717, when it was turned into a mosque after an Islamic conquest. The land changed sides again in 785, and a church went up in 908. The building was altered a few times before a major renovation that lasted began in 1416 (it only took 104 years for the place to be built after it was designed). There have been other changes in the centuries after that.
