Chester, England: Chester Cathedral

Another European town, another beautiful church.

That's the brief way to describe the Chester Cathedral, which has a nice big lot downtown and certainly is great to see. The site of the church may have been the place for worship since Roman times (in other words, 2,000 years). The current place-holder started to be built around the 10th century. It took until something like 1541 for it to be done, at least for the time being. That's when the Bishop of Chester moved in.

There were lots of additions and modifications along the way, as you'd expect. A bell tower was only put in place in the 20th century - just lately, by these standards.

Such places are fun to see from the inside, and this one is no exception.
