Kotor, Montenegro: Cathedral of Saint Tryphon

Here's one of the most popular spots while walking side the walls of Kotor. It's the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon, named after the patron saint of the city.

The ground has been used for religious purposes since 1166. However, a mere 501 years later, a major earthquake did quite a number on the facility. The facade was ruined. A couple of towers were built, although they never did get around to finishing the second one. Another earthquake in 1979 didn't help matters either, although the heaviest damage affected the coast of Montevideo. It took another 20 years fo fix things up again.

This is a symbol of the city, and some rare artifacts from Kotor's history are there.
