Kotor, Montenegro: Gurdic Gate

You need a few gates if you have an ancient, walled city. Kotor came up with a pair of impressive entrances, and this is one of them.

The Gurdic Gate is also known as the South Gate. It's been around for about 500 years, so it's passed that test. The gate is located near the Gurdic River, and has a nice drawbridge as part of the structure.

This certainly offers a scenic introduction into the Old Town - probably the most photogenic of any of the entrances.
